Psychotherapy in North Dublin & online

In-depth, down-to-earth therapy for the things that shape how you feel, inside you and around you: your relationships, your body, your sense of who you are, and the world you're living in.

You don't have to be in crisis to come to therapy. Sometimes it's enough to notice that the same things keep coming around, and to want to understand why.

I work with adults on a range of things, including:

  • relationships
  • life transitions
  • body image and emotional eating
  • burnout
  • trauma
  • low mood, anxiety or depression
  • grief
  • pregnancy and post-natal adjustment
  • self-criticism
  • loneliness

I also offer couples therapy & performance therapy, each with their own focus & approach.

What to expect

How I work

In my work, I pay attention to how your current and earlier relationships have shaped the patterns you find yourself repeating. In psychotherapy this is called relational and attachment-informed practice, and the relationship between us is itself part of how change happens.

Within that, I draw on methods that best fit you & your needs:

- practical tools for what's happening now (CBT)

- a way of making sense of what's going on beneath the surface, the things that shape you without you realising (psychodynamic)

- attention to what shows up in the body and not only in your thoughts (somatic)

- creative techniques for the things that are hard to put into words

What's going on for you is rarely just about you. The people around you, your work, your family, your culture and community all shape your wellbeing, so they're part of what we look at together. It's also part of why, at WellCo, therapy sits under one roof with coaching and training - your body and your habits are part of the same picture as your mind.

About me

My path into this work wasn't a straight line. It ran from education, into mental health and coaching, through to the corporate world of tech sales, and back to mental health again. I think that's part of why I don't expect anyone's life to follow a tidy, predictable route.

I'm not the kind of therapist who sits behind a blank face while you wonder what I'm thinking. I work relationally, which in practice means therapy is a real conversation between two people, and the trust we build is doing a lot of the work. That isn't only my preference: research consistently shows that the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most reliable predictors of whether therapy helps.

Walk'n'Talk

In person, North Dublin

Walk'n'Talk

Walking sessions in Newbridge Park, Donabate, weather permitting, for when sitting in a room isn’t what you need.

I can't promise to make things simpler. What I can do is help you to understand yourself well enough that you have more choice in how you respond to what is thrown at you. Good therapy should leave you needing it less over time, not more.

Your privacy

Whatever you bring to therapy stays between us. Nothing is shared with anyone else, including your coach at WellCo, unless you choose to share it yourself. If at some point you want to combine therapy with coaching or training, that option is here under one roof, and it is always led by you. Even if you engage in our combined body-mind package, your confidentiality is guaranteed, unless you explicitly request a joint consult.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at advice@wellcohq.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Completely. A lot of people come having never done it before, and plenty more aren't sure their reason is "big enough." You don't need the right words, or a clear sense of what the problem is. We start wherever you are.

The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. You'll tell me what's brought you here, why now feels like the time, and what you're hoping to get from it. I'll also ask some questions about your background and your general health, including anything like medication or support you already have in place. This helps me see the fuller picture and make sure I'm the right fit for what you need. There's nothing to prepare, and you set the pace on what you share. We'll also go over how I work, how confidentiality works and you can ask me questions too so you're clear on what to expect moving forward.

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly, especially at the start. A regular rhythm tends to be where the work builds momentum, though as the work progresses, we may discuss reducing that frequency.

This varies from person to person, depending on what you're working through and how often you come. The work here is aimed at lasting change rather than a quick fix, so it usually isn't a one or two session thing, but it needn't be open-ended either. Research on therapy suggests many people notice real improvement within a couple of months of weekly sessions, and a majority within around six months. We review on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, to assess how sessions are going, and if anything like frequency, approach, etc. needs to be tweaked. My aim is always to help you reach a steadier footing and need me less, rather than to keep you coming indefinitely.

Currently, I only work with adults aged 18+. However, I have completed postgraduate studies related to children's mental health and development. This context can be useful when working with young adults and parents.

Some sessions can take place walking outdoors in Newbridge Park, Donabate. People often find it easier to talk about difficult things side by side, and being out in nature can help in itself. Walking next to each other takes the pressure off constant eye contact, which some people find difficult. Dogs are also welcome, which can provide additional comfort.

Please dress for the weather; if it's not suitable, we'll move online or indoors. One thing to know: outdoor sessions carry some risk, and WellCo doesn't provide insurance, so you're responsible for your own wellbeing during a walk. If that matters to you, consider arranging personal accident cover.

Yes. What you bring to therapy stays between us. There are a few exceptions that apply to all therapists, mainly where there's a serious risk to your safety or someone else's, and I'll talk these through with you at the start. Like all accredited therapists, I also discuss my work in regular professional supervision, where you're not identified by name.

Yes, it's one of the things WellCo is built for. You'd see me for therapy and Alex for physical and nutrition training in your own separate sessions, and we bring the two together into one package, with your pricing and scheduling handled together. Your therapy still stays completely private: nothing you tell me is shared with Alex, or anyone else at WellCo, unless you choose to share it yourself. The two strands share a way of thinking, not your information.

I work on a monthly basis rather than charging session by session, which keeps the work continuous rather than transactional. We'll go through fees properly on the first call, so you have a clear picture before committing to anything.

Life happens, and you can rearrange when you need to. I ask for at least 48 hours' notice to change or cancel a session; or else the session is charged, since the time is held for you. For Monday sessions, that means letting me know by the Friday before.

It means adding your name so I can be in touch when a space opens for individual or couples therapy, or our combined body-mind packages. There's no cost and no commitment, and joining doesn't book you in or start anything. I expect to be taking new clients from autumn 2026, and when a space comes up I'll get in touch so we can arrange a short call to see whether it's a good fit. You can take your name off the list at any time - just pop us an email, no questions asked.

WellCo therapy isn't an emergency service, and the waitlist isn't the right route if you need support now. Please reach out to one of these instead. They're free, confidential and available right away:
